"The Language Of Flowers" 

Since graduating I have continued developing the theme of my final project throughout parts of my work. This exploration has become my current project “The language of flowers”.

I have always been fascinated with the flora we bring into our homes, both flowers and house plants, and delight in having fresh flowers on the table and experimenting with the vessels that contain them.

Folklore, poetry and the plays of the classical world are full of flowers and plant symbolism and the language of flowers, floriography, uses coded communication through the presentation or arrangements of different flowers.

All of these concepts and traditions have strengthened my belief that forms and shapes are also able to tell a story and the importance of their stories lies in the possible choice of the flowers to be used in my vases.

Each series of vases has been named after a flower and I will continue to grow the project thoughout my practice.
